last beta release,
the Interchange development group is pleased to release

Interchange user location map
Just for fun,
this website now allows registered users to plot their location on a map.
A link to the map can be found in the navigation menu shown on the top-left
of every page.
If you go to your account information page then you'll see a new
"show me on the user map" option.
You can leave that set to "no",
or you can set it to "yes" and plot your location on the map.
You can modify your location,
or remove yourself from the map altogether,
any time you like.

Interchange security announcement
A security bug in the Standard and Foundation
ecommerce demos,
supplied with current and previous Interchange releases,
was recently discovered and corrected by Kevin Walsh.
All Interchange administrators will need to check,
and possibly correct,
the "missing.html" file in all of the
Interchange-driven websites under their control.

Ron Phipps joins the Interchange core team
The Interchange development group has welcomed Ron Phipps to its core team.
Ron, an Interchange user since late 2000,
has been listed as a contributor for quite some time.
He has donated a fair number of patches to Interchange,
so it's good to finally have him join us as an official member of the Interchange development group.
No pressure, but we're expecting great things from you, Ron.

Interchange 5.4.2 released
Interchange 5.4.2 was released earlier today.
This release includes a number of bug fixes, some minor changes and one security fix
to prevent a potential DoS attack.
Users of Interchange 5.4.0 and 5.4.1 are encouraged to upgrade to this version,
and should find no compatibility problems in doing so.
Users of earlier releases should also plan to upgrade,
rather than be left behind.

New Interchange RTFM website unleashed
Welcome to the shiny new Interchange RTFM website.
The old website was looking a little dated,
so I thought it was about time it was given a bit of a makeover.
This new website is powered by an Interchange-driven Content
Management System, running Interchange 5.5.0,
and includes the start of a brand new Interchange documentation
project.
Various other facilities will be introduced from time to time,
including polls and RSS/Atom feeds.
